Mirante de São Francisco
The Mirante de São Francisco features one of the best and most spectacular views in Rio de Janeiro. You can see downtown Rio, Cristo on top of Corcovado, Sugar Loaf, the Fort of San Luis, and the beautiful Bay of Guanabara. Watch the yachts in one of the 5 yacht clubs located on the Enseada de São Francisco or the high speed catamaran ferry that whisks passengers from Charitas Beach to Rio Centro in just 15 minutes. Two long verandas span the entire width of the house, making this view available from nearly every room. Built in an upscale residential neighborhood in this charming suburb, this is our largest house with three full floors and around 3500 square feet. You enter the top floor through a small enclosed garden. This floor has a large living room and TV area and a huge dining room that can seat at 12 people at our custom made solid granite dining room table. We have placed the business center on this floor as well, allowing you to stay in touch with work or family around the world.
The middle floor has
three suites, each with French doors that open onto a veranda with full
access to the view. The first suite is the smallest and has one queen
bed, while the other two are larger with two queen beds each. The
third bedroom has a larger bathroom with both a Jacuzzi tub and a and
shower. Of course, all of the bedrooms are air conditioned and have
safes for your valuables.
The entire bottom floor is given over to a large game and party room. Perfect for entertaining yourselves or your visitors, the room features a snooker table, ping pong table, and a large wet bar stocked with plenty of ice cold beverages. Included in this room is a separate air conditioned sleeping area that can be partitioned into two areas, each with a queen size bed. Guests sleeping here make use of the game room powder room and the full bath that is part of the swimming pool area. In all, the house can accommodate as many as 14 guests in 7 queen sized beds and 5 rooms.
The pool is off
of the game room on the bottom level and also offers the same fantastic view of
Rio and the Bay. There is plenty of room for sunbathing here and this area
gets a lot of sun. A charming churrasqueira (barbeque) is part of this deck.
Together with the game room, this floor offers ample entertainment opportunities
regardless of the weather.
This house is just above the neighborhood of São Francisco, Niteroi. This area offers a variety of restaurants, bars, and nightclubs that spill out onto the street when the weather is nice. Here, you can dine in Porcão, one of the finest restaurants in Rio, where there is a constant flow of waiters offering various types of meat that they cut off the spit right at your table. Or perhaps you are in the mood for Familia Paludo, a most excellent restaurant run by the Paludo Family in this location for generations. There are pubs, bars, discos, ice cream shops, and even a McDonald's (yes, if you just simply must have a taste of home while in Rio). São Francisco is the place where we send our guests staying at Itacoatiara. You can walk to this area from the house since it is all downhill and the area is relatively safe. To return, you will probably want to take a R$ 7 taxi since it is uphill and you will probably be full of the excellent Brazilian cuisine and libations available here.
